Today I am Chief Design Officer at my own firm, Devise. I provide digital product design and strategic consulting services.

Interaction Design for medical systems is a special interest of mine, and I wrote a white paper on the topic. I have performed human factors engineering process consulting for a major medical device firm, and led the total user experience design of a major healthcare application to run core administrative hospital departments.

My Interaction Design (IxD) career began at Cooper, the seminal interaction design consultancy that helped define the discipline. During my three years with Cooper I honed my design abilities, learned IxD best practices and also helped to formalize the persona creation process. Cooper projects use ethnographic research and persona modeling to understand the domain and users' needs.

After Cooper I joined St. Jude Medical, a Fortune 100 company. For more than five years I worked in the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division, and helped design and research implantable medical devices. I led requirements definition across multiple generations of products, to ensure that the systems met clinicians' and physicians' goals. It's rewarding to know that the innovative & friendly user experiences which I designed at St. Jude improved clinicians' ability to provide good patient care and improved their market position.
